Bm'ing And General Behavior.

I think its important to bring something like this up. What we need to be resilient about is not being outright rude to other people. One of the worst things about the MOBA community is how toxic behavior is and can be. Remember that MOBA's are complicated, especially DOTA 2. One simple error in positioning or not placing a ward where it might need to go can trigger a wide arrangement of emotions ( most of which center around anger ) which causes some to fly off the handle. Do you know what makes the difference? How. We. React.

As HellsGamers members we should be proactive in training/advising rather than using abusive language. If someone is placing a ward wrong, show him where to place it. If there positioning is off, correct them accordingly. Some people are rude, I know this personally and if they fire back with abuse language, than let it go and brush it off. There is NEVER a need to instigate more problems with someone who is going to make more troubles. If the enemy team is instigating over all chat, simply do not respond.

Now this is not to say don't have fun. Throwing a "How in the hell ?!" over all chat is one thing. Saying "You're a giant fa**** for picking the hero you did" is quit another. Remember, the difference not only makes you a better person, high road blah blah, but makes HG look good in the process. Always think of HG before yourself.

We go over this in the welcome message thats pinned to an extent. Strategy is a competitive division, unlike the others. Almost all of the players who play SC2/LoL/Dota 2 are playing to get a higher ranking. Its also stated that you should announce your skill level before playing ranked with others to dodge these types of conflicts. If you're looking to learn with better players tell them that and dont play ranked if the gap between your ratings is too wide. Also never act like you're better than you actually are, because actions speak louder than words. It personally makes myself and many others i would assume angry when people come in acting like they're as good as a pro but they constantly make rookie mistakes, so in situations like this it goes both ways... people with lower skill have to recognize that they have tons of room to improve while the higher skilled players recognize not to get angry when they make mistakes they dont usually see at their level of play.

I think this is a good thing to remember.

"You're a giant fa**** for picking the hero you did"

This is really subjective to the person receiving the interaction. Someone could take that really offensively, or quite the opposite. It's part of your own discretion in Hellsgamers, as is in public, to not deliberately piss people off.

Not sure if being devils advocate to see if I can defend my stance or just trolling.....

See but its really not subjective. This is meant to be a insult. If the other person decides its not insulting to that particular person then so be it, but its not to say that the general populous doesn't find this insulting. MOREOVER it again makes HG look bad, like we don't know the mechanics of a hero so we are just going to lob insults or rather things meant to be insulting than just sucking it up and taking the high road. This post was meant to be the "Take the high road" type of thing not because it makes you look better, which it does, but because it makes Hellsgamers look good. If you are wearing HG tags this should be considered.

I think when it comes to complaining about hero choices, it would be good to maybe suggest a hero when it comes to selection time or just not say anything at all. I've noticed this when I've been solo queuing and no one picks a support. When that happens, I just keep silent and use my gold to buy the courier.

I'm not trying to troll anyone by any means, you need to understand that people have different ways of interacting with each other and that goes for EVERYONE. I was reading something a few days ago that said like 7% of the way you present yourself in a social environment is the words that you use, a lot of the rest being the energy that you exert when you interact. (Which is totally valid) Being from the bay area i have a few gay friends, and they call each other fags all the time. Needless to say they're not competing against each other on a game of DotA. If people are using abusive chat in game, just report them and don't play with them. If they bring it into teamspeak, pm some form of leadership about it and i'm sure they'll handle it.

It's really not this complicated.

While this is true in real life interaction I feel that energy and feeling is lost in translation when in chat. Even if you have friends who don't mind being called a fag, I certain do. I don't wish to be called this by anyone who I don't know personally and know is joking with me. Again the point of this post is to say make HG look good by being better than other people in game.

I do rage and get angry a lot when I play. I don't care that people criticize me and tell me that I shouldn't because even people like Dendi rage a lot. If fucking casuals wouldn't play ranked with me and treat it like some kind of normal game, I wouldn't get as angry. I'm playing games because I want to be the best player ever and when someone is getting in my way of that I WILL get mad.
