Let's just say you had 10k rep A glitch happened that temporarily doubled your rep, so you had 20k. You were like wow, i'm going to spend this rep (or give some away). So you spent 11k rep. You ended up with 9k. Now, when the database updated you ended up with -1,000 rep, because the database still had you at 10k rep and you spend 1k more than you actually had. In other words, you spent that rep and that was your fault. Though bonbon should be posting. Edit: Another thing that could have happened is that you tried to idle on two accounts under the same IP and started getting -15rep.
