Hdr Toning

Now I haven't been around the graphics software as much I've done a lot of other things in my life, but now am studying these things intensively.

So can anyone who's been doing this stuff for longer tell me of the differences between taking real HDR photos by taking 3 or more different lighted images and then combining them and using the HDR toning tool with just one original picture.

Now I've got enough smart in my brain to say that of course there's a difference, I have a strong feeling that the real way is the better way. But if you guys have some settings on the HDR toning tool that would make 1 frame look almost the same as a HDR image made out of the same picture taken in different light, share tips?

- Sincerely yours, graphics newbie
