Concussions has been a hot-button issue for the sport, amid accusations the NFL is not doing enough to protect players. In a health and safety briefing on Thursday, the league said the number of concussions caused by helmet-to-helmet hits had fallen most dramatically, an apparent result of stricter rules on such tackles. The drop in reported concussions comes despite the introduction of increased efforts to spot them, including sideline cameras, observers in the stands and improved diagnostic techniques.
