PERP Moderator Guide

A step-by-step guide for new and current PERP Moderators

1. Understand that abuse is NOT tolerated. You are given the privilege, not the right, of this position. Please follow all server rules. All actions are logged and thus viewable by HG Leadership. Act professional.

2. Remember: Always warn > kick > ban. Although you need to use your judgement, an exception to this would be a hacker.

3. You need to bind a key to "+ass_menu". This will give you access to many different commands. This is done by the following:

-Make sure you have enabled developer console in the GMOD options menu. Open up the console by pressing the ~ key.

- In the console, type: bind <insert desired key> "+ass_menu"

- An example: bind x "+ass_menu" (Keep in mind you will have to hold the key you have bound while you want to keep the menu open)

The Ass Menu

To open the ass menu you will hold the key that you have just bound in the previous instructions.

The ass menu put plain and simple is a menu with a basic set of commands. Mods have access to the majority of these commands except for "Freeze All" and "Toggle OOC".

Here we see 3 different tabs we can go into, kick, plugins, and PERP. The only two tabs you need to worry about as a mod are kick and plugins.

Kick is rather self explanatory, it kicks the player from the server.

The plugins tab is where the majority of your commands are as a moderator. Below I will go through what each ability you have access to does

Demote: Demotes a player from their government job. Keep in mind, a demotion counts as a warning in the three step process.

Respawn: This ability will respawn the player at the nexus. Keep in mind that respawning yourself because you're too lazy to drive back to the city is abuse.

Spectate: This will begin to spectate the player. To stop spectating press your spacebar. Keep in mind that anything you see while in spectate may not be used for anything in RP. Everything you see while in spectate is for moderating purposes only

Bring To My Target: This will teleport the player to your target, the target being wherever you are looking (Imagine there was a little dot in the middle of your screen, wherever it is pointing at is where the target will be teleported to)

Bring To Me: This will teleport the target directly to where you are standing.

Teleport To: This will teleport you to the player, to be used for moderating purposes only. Any abuse of teleport commands will likely result in your mod being removed or teleport commands being revoked

Teleport to Target: This is the exact same command as "Bring To My Target"

Catalina and Physics Gun

When you first receive your powers you will notice two new items on your weapon/item selecter.

The physics gun may or may not be new to you depending on if you have had gold before. It is the same physics gun that gold members receive and is used to build bases and freeze props.

Next, we have Catalina, also known as your admin stick. Once again, this is for moderating only and cannot be used to benefit you in anyway in RP. As stated in the instructions, you left click to fire, and right click to change what it does. When you right click this menu will pop up.

These commands are mostly the same as your ass menu except for a few. (Extinguish and Invisibility will not be on your menu)

Position: Tells you the specific location of an item on the map

Freeze: Will freeze your target where they stand. To unfreeze just left click them with freeze selected. Warning: Do NOT slay players when they are frozen or they will not respawn until you revive them.

Retrieve Item Owner: This will tell you who props belong to.

Revive Player: This will revive the player you fire it at. Players are only to be revived if they were killed in a non rp fashion or were wrongly killed.

Kill Player: Slays the player and they will respawn in 5 minutes. Again, DO NOT slay anyone while they are frozen. Slaying someone counts as a warning.

Tab Menu

When you open your tab menu and click on a players name this is what will appear. On the left is information on the player (Do not use any of this to your RP advantage), while on the right is some more commands (Mods do not have access to ban or force rename). The only commands that are new here are Driving BL and Blacklist. We also have a punishment time which will be how long you blacklist a player for (measured in hours)

Driving BL: Used when a player is continuously driving recklessly or using their car in ways they should not be. Please keep in mind that this should only be used after the player has been warned and is continuously using their car in improper ways.

Blacklist: Blacklists the player from their current job. Once again, this should only be used after a warning is a given.

Important Information & Tips

1. Moderators may request a 2 hour ban on a player without having proof. To do this you will contact one of GMODs Division Staff and ask them for a ban in the following template:

Requesting a ban on <Name Here>

Steam ID: STEAM_X:X:XXXXXXX

Reason: Provide the reason for the ban

If you believe the player needs a ban longer than 2 hours then you need to post proof on the ban report and it will be reviewed by a dS+.

2. The max amount of time you may blacklist someone for is 24 hours without proof. If you have proof blacklist them for 24 hours and post your proof for a dS+ to review.

3. To revive yourself if you are wrongly killed: Spectate yourself, and then open ass menu and respawn yourself, exit spectate. Be aware that if you are caught reviving yourself when you have died by a RP reason you will be demoted from your position.

4. It is highly recommended that you are always recording. This allows you to have proof for a ban/blacklist extension. A good habit to get into is to start recording every time you join the game and start a new recording every 30 minutes or so.

5. Perhaps the biggest thing when you are first learning to be a mod, is that if you don't know something, even if there is a tiny doubt in your mind, ASK someone. Ask any other moderator or even better a dS of Garry's Mod. You are not going to be in any trouble for asking questions and it allows for you to be sure you are doing the right thing and avoiding any sort of abuse report etc.

Thanks to Rizon for the previous guide which made the creation of this one much easier
