Change The Vote Map System!

Hello my cancerous little ZS players. It’s time to address another issue.

Nobody likes the vote system at all do they? Nah mang. B0ss it gives me a cancerrrr.

No but seriously, it is bad. For a number of reasons.

Our current “new system†is really not working as it was intended to. The vertical list voting system allows for people who:

1) Wish to kill their teammate zombies after round 6 ends

2) Want to close the annoying window

3) Don’t know what to choose

4) Are gullible and follow spammers blindly

5) Are Trolls

To pick (usually at random) a map that appears in the top 4 of the vertical listing. Rarely will people scroll down to pick a map. It doesn’t matter if the map is a poor choice. As long as the map initially wins by 2%, there will be a pile of people voting. That mindless voting constitutes for over 50% of the voting for a particular map, since they believe that map is going to win. That just denies responsible people of the liberty to choose an appropriate map.

We’re also besieged by spammers.

Chat, voice, you name it. It’s always the same tumor cells shouting for “X†map. Many times, if there is a contest between 2 maps (both of which appear in the top 4 of the vertical list), the map which receives the most spam will see a massive shift in votes from 1 to the other.

This means maps aren’t chosen by the majority vote, but by minority. It’s hardly random, since people mindlessly vote for a map and complain afterword or perform horribly on said picked map.

We need to address this serious medical condition. How?

Proposed changes, from earlier topics:

1) During map voting, mass mute and mass gag everyone.

2) Change from a vertical listing of maps to a horizontal thumbnail, much like the earlier “new†version of the map vote system.

3) Make ALL votes anonymous until the end.

This way, we’ll have a TRUE map voting for the majority decision, with people having to really decide what map THEY truly wish. Cya nerds. Hope this gets taken seriously and we no longer have objective maps back-to-back and 100 times per day and shitmaps 90% of the time back-to-back with wave 2 human losing.

EDIT: Some don't have to scroll since I play at a smaller screen, but that changes nothing. (Objective maps exempt). Only times maps NOT from the top of the list are chosed are when map is an obj or it is spammed.

EDIT 2: Some people take the wording literally. Top 4 really means the maps up top.

See here is the problem with these kind of threads, the core concept is good idea but the problem is you surround it with five paragraphs of crazy. Now the idea that we should be limiting the number of objective maps so they're not played back to back and we have more variety is a good idea. The idea that disabling chat and voice is going to somehow magically sway the players, who frankly could care less what map is played next, into selecting a more diverse map list is absurd. They have chosen and will still continue to choose either a random map on the list or join the bandwagon of whichever map is winning because they don't care.

At the end of the day this is the majority's decision, if they want to choose a map someone else suggested because they either don't know enough about the maps or don't care which map is played, that is their decision to make and they're entitled to make it. The cone of silence isn't going to affect that decision and just leaves people awkwardly sitting in silence for a minute.

This is true, however if I was to make the vote,i think it would be better If you could make it so when the map list comes up you have 5 seconds to look at the maps and then choose cause all I see is people choosing maps as fast as possible and then closing it. This is my opinion add a 5 second timer/delay

join the bandwagon of whichever map is winning because they don't care.

People can't join the bandwagon when they cant see what people are voting for

3) Make ALL votes anonymous until the end.

Edit: So you mass gag + mute then make voting anonymous until the vote is decided AND change the layout of the vote menu so that everybody who has no clue what theyre doing doesnt just vote for whatever is on the top

My point exactly.

The bandwagon thing happens when the voting just starts so a map winning by 2% generally wins rip

The big problem with anonymous voting and muting players is that the power goes to the people on teamspeak all talking about what they want to play next. This sytem is almost impossible to perfect.

I'm honestly becoming a big fan of random maps from time to time

Yeah but usually the people on teamspeak know what they're doing and will vote a good map unless they're trolling because people on teamspeak are regulars most of the time

You're mostly right, but it creates a bias system. It doesn't become a vote by players anymore, it becomes a vote by the HG members.

But we are also assuming that that the HG members will want the same thing.

Most of the Members wont be bandwagon sheeples and will vote for what they want and not what the other people in teamspeak want
