I would recommend changing that 970 to a 1070, it's a lot better for the price. Might be a bit difficult to find a 1070 right away as it was just released and it's selling out but it's very worth it. It's faster than the titanx and cost about the same as a 970 did when it first came out. You would have to be insane to get a 970 right now..

Well depending on how serious you are about your AutoCAD stuff, you are pretty much good to go.

Big mistake on the motherboard though... X99 chipset is no bueno with the i7-6800K. You would have to opt for their 170 series instead.

The 1070 would be a much better grab for money (performance / dollar) however, if you are looking tocheap out on your video card for now (and upgrade later)... you could hop on for a 970 but really it would limit you to your future proofing.

I bought a new graphics card (GeForce GTX 1070 MSI) a few weeks ago and it finally arrived but I need a new power supply which'll arrive soon too. I didn't test it out yet but I'm sure it's gonna suit you well. 970/990 (if that exists) would also be a decent one, you can run 4K graphics for example on GTA V, install a 4k/ULTRA mod and you'll run it smoothly. If 1070' goes around same price, I would indeed go for that instead.

Other than that, your idea seems sufficient to work & play at.

No he chose the right kind of motherboard, the 6800k is broadwell e, like the 6850k 6900k and 6950x. So it uses the x99 chipset.

The 1070 is a really great card for its price seeing as how its pretty close to what the 970 originally sold for and comes with the performance of a Titan x which is faster than 2 970s. Now I wouldn't recommend a 970 at all for 4k gaming unless you want to play with your settings turned down and still getting an average fps of around 30. They have done benchmarks with the 970 on gtav at 4k and maxed out but it only managed an average of about 25fps and a max of 30 so not actually very smooth at all. The 970 wasn't made for 4k and that's obvious seeing as how its vram is gimped at 3.5gb instead of the full 4gb it was sold for, it really sucks once a game starts to push past 3.5 GB of vram usage...
