Metal Gear Survive – Zombie Bandwagon or Revolutionary Release?

Metal Gear Solid has always been known as the king of AAA stealth games, leading to the inspiration behind many of the games we see today. Whether infiltrating an enemy base without being spotted as Raiden, or rescuing hostages as Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid has always provided an unparalleled experience of being sneaky-beaky-like. The upcoming addition to the Metal Gear family, Metal Gear Survive, sets out to try something new.

Made by Konami, this new zombie shoot-em-up is scheduled to be released sometime in 2017. Set in the universe of its predecessor, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, an experimental wormhole technology transports the protagonists to a desolate, lifeless earth. The twist: what was once alive is now part of an undead army, and they don't like that you're here.

Although the trailer uses cilche cinematography and shows a lack of gameplay, don't boycott it yet. If you would rather see the professionally narrated fifteen minute gameplay demonstration, you can watch it down below.

This takes the traditional stealth approach of Metal Gear Solid and adds a whole new survival aspect to the gameplay. One of the more prominent features is the continuous co-operative multiplayer gameplay.

So what do you think? Are you sad that the studio in charge forfeit Kojima‘s vision and made this game? Or do you see the promise for something greater than what you would usually see in a zombie game? Let us know in the reply section. Thanks for reading.
