Moonlight

A piece of art.

Moonlight is the story of a young gay boy's journey to adulthood set in the backdrop of the projects of Miami. It's divided into 3 chapters of the main character's life. The first, Little, is the main character's youth. He's around 10 or so, and small, hence the nickname given to him: Little. He is bullied by other boys for his size and introverted demeanor, and they even call him a fa****, although he hasn't even realized he's gay yet. The main character, Chiron, eventually meets a drug dealer that becomes somewhat of a father figure to him.

The second chapter is set during his time in high school. Chiron first kisses another boy and is heavily bullied in school for being meek. His mother slowly spirals downward into addiction and abuse.

I don't want to say anything more because you should really see it. It's a very human, real film that requires a bit of maturity to watch. Don't go if you can't handle something really serious.
