piscian
Recently I was desperate to play L4D but Ive been poor recently and couldn't justify spending 50$ on it so googling around I figured out that there are key and steam trading forums. Not gonna name them, but I'm sure some of you already know of them. This bothers the shit out of me because now I know for a fact that Low Digit Id and pro XP doesn't mean shit. I was looking through the banned threads and I noticed people mentioning Low steam ID means they might not be hacking. I don't think Steam ID should be any consideration. That like saying anybody who didn't play 1.6 is questionable. end rant.

Church
Hey's saying a lot of people think that having a low amount of numbers in your STEAM ID makes you really pro at Counter-Strike. For example some people have 5 dig STEAM ID's and just because of that most people will be like "Oh if it looks like he's hacking, he's just really good cuz he's got a 5 dig so don't ban." When it's entirely possible they're hacking. Take judging STEAM ID digits out of ban judgments because they just tell when someone set up their account and nothing more. ttaM
If you're talking about L4D SteamID's(which I don't know?) they did start over for that game. All accounts set up on Left 4 Dead start with 1:0 ******* So it's possible people have 1:0 1234 SteamID's and just play Counter Strike to look like they are 4 digits. I think? Headshot
Emma and piscian need a divorce, and yes, steam id dont mean anything, cause you can also buy it. I don't really look at the id unless im not 100% sure they are hacking. If i cant tell and they have a low id, i call in other admins, but if i can tell there are walls or somethin, i dont bother lookin at the steam id, cause i dont care if they bought it, they hax = they should be banned. bort
in regards to the OP's question (or statement?), i hardly ever even notice the steamID. We have banned plenty of low SteamIDs before. I could care less how low it is. People sell steamIDs down to 2-dig Okay, and about L4D, the first numbers in the steamID aren't part of your steamID. All they do is tell which server you connect to when u log into the game's master server. 0:0 and 0:1 are CSS master servers (and i think counter-strike 1.6 also) (STEAM_0:0:XXXXXXX & STEAM_0:1:XXXXXXX) 1:0 is the L4D master server. As time goes on, it will probably get 1:1 as well (STEAM_1:0:XXXXXXX) Your SAME STEAMID will change depending if you are in CSS or L4D. For instance, my steamID is: STEAM_0:0:2696551 <-- when I'm playing CSS STEAM_1:0:2696551 <-- when I'm playing L4D
I Love Lamp
Generally, we here at HG review low digit steam IDs closely if someone accuses them of hacking, and tend to be skeptical. The main reason being that just about everyone who plays steam games knows that a low digit steam ID is worth cash. Anything under 6 digits can fetch a fair sum of cash. So, the likelyhood of someone throwing away cash just to cheat and get banned is relatively slim.
iget1fps
So, your saying, if i came into one of your servers on my 5dig and destroyed then you would be just as suspicious as when im on my 8dig? Sometimes having a lower digit means that the person has been playing that game for a while... Whether the person bought the account or not is sometimes hard to find out. I personally don't take ID number into account. Although I might not be as "paranoid" that this person "destroying" the server is hacking. But either way, I will still spec players that play at around 3 and 4:1 ratios. Not only to see if they are hacking, but also to see how they play the game. And maybe learn a thing or two. But also some people wallhack, but still play bad due to their aiming abilities.
Phobos
I remember there was a guy from Schroet Kommando or Powers Gaming that had 0:0:1337, who sold his account on Ebay and made 200 dollars, later the buyer ended up getting VACd and thus the legendary ID was lost forever. Master
not saying i got one, but a friend of mine just got a 5 dig. he only paid 35 for it and it came with call of duty 4. So since cod4 is a 50 game he saved 15 and got a really low steam id. So Lamp only digs that are ones that are worth A LOT are low 4, 3, or even one of the rare 2 digs. 2 dig 2,000-5,000 USD 3 Dig 800-2,000 USD 4 Dig 200-800 USD <-- All depends on what number it is *Note these are not the correct prices these are prices that have been last time I saw
DarkOwnage_
Wow, he bought a 5 digit steam account for $35? Are you serious? He got an awesome deal then! 5 digits go way more then just $35.
I Love Lamp
Yeah, I've seen 5 digs go for 100 bucks or so, sometimes more. Your friend got the deal of a lifetime. Also, I didn't even know anyone could buy a 2 dig. I thought most of those were dev IDs. I figured if there were any left they'd be VACed lol. I was trying to get a steam gift of left4dead. That sites pretty much all trolls now. Yeah I noted the XP thing in the OP. Accounts with Cal/CEVO proof are obviously worth more, but again can be bought. Typically what Ive seen is that people will get banned from Cal for hacking and then go on KeyH and Scyth to get a clean account.
