F34rTheV3n0m
What wattage of a power supply should I get for my i5 computer? was originally going AMD but i5 just came out and is pretty cheap and if you can locate a heatsink/fan for me that would be great because im having trouble finding one for a socket LGA1156 As you can see i also need help choosing a power supply. I wanna make sure everything in my computer will be ready to rock n roll.

RetiredTacos
Any of these would work assuming you aren't running 6+ hard drives, water cooling, 3x video cards. How much you have to spend? Here are some choices. 100$ (best choice)- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005 100$ (2nd choice, only get if you want modular) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341018 If you need cheaper, let us know what components you have and you can probably get away with less power. F34rTheV3n0m
The power supply I currently have chosen is a 650 watt for $55 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817162014&Tpk=Broadway%20Com%20Corp%20Okia-black-650%20650W Components r CPU - i5 2.66ghz Video Card - GTX 260 HD - 120 GB + 720 Gb external HD RAM - 4 GB DDR3 1333 Mobo - ASUS P7P55D LE LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard
Guest The_Monkey
I used this one to build a Core i7 system with 4 hard drive, 2 video cards, and 2 roms. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341010
RetiredTacos
+3.3V@34A,+5V@50A,+12V@24A That will not work, plus the quality is garbage. Do you have to have something cheaper? If you DO, this will work best. Top choice, that would work just fine. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139003 2nd choice http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341016 The OCZ modstream are pretty good, but I highly recommend corsair over it. RetiredTacos
EDIT: didn't see the rebate in 1st choice to = the same as mine 450W is good enough for my computer? Also, still need help for that heatsink/fan All 450W PSU's are not created equal. The most important thing is the 12V rating, 33 AMPS is plenty if the PSU is solid. I'll look up a heatsink for ya. Here's the best choice for the $ http://www.heatsinkfactory.com/noctua-nh-u12p-se-2-ultra-silent-cpu-cooler.html But if you are NOT overclocking, there is zero reason to upgrade your heatsink/fan. Just FYI.
F34rTheV3n0m
OK, so I'm not gonna overclock this processor and will my current heatsink/fan fit the i5 which is LGA 1156 socket (which is ontop of a Intel celeron 3.0ghz) be good enough for the i5? I'd prefer a better heatsink/fan so the processor will last longer and run alot cooler.
RetiredTacos
The stock heatsink and fan will work fine, it comes with one. If you want to go ahead and get a heatsink, but honestly I'd spend the cash elsewhere ifbu aren't overclocking.
