PoorStar_Nutbag
1. buy external hard drive 2. save everything important to said hard drive (music/photos/porn) 3. wipe old hard drive in order to wipe the old OS (operating system) <<very important step. new OS wont install correctly if old one still exists 4. install windows 7 from CD or USB drive 5. after install download drivers for everything, it will be a fresh start 6. plug in external hard drive and copy everything to your hard drive that has the new OS on it personally i think windows 7 is better but that is all opinion. i dont think it performs any better/worse i just like the layout better

PoorStar_Nutbag
how do you wipe a hard drive INCLUDING the OS? Reformat the hard drive or use http://www.dban.org/ This is how i wipe my hard drives. Rewrites existing data as 1's and 0's so you can start fresh and actually remove everything from the hard drive. Very useful tool if you ever decide to sell your computer
