MEXICO MAN
What is with these CS GO ranked matches, it like steam bypasses the option that lets you pick your max ping on servers. This is my new internet speed, which is faster than before, if you didn't know. The other internet speed was about 24 mb/s down and 1.5 mb/s up. Is there any secret settings I can try to make my ping better? (I don't run anything that uses bandwith while playing except for steam and the game itself.) Quote Link to comment
DetectiveYellNow
You may have better internet, but you can't change a server feedback twitch, or someone who may have higher ping than you. Quote Link to comment

In order to help you further I have to ask you a few questions. Are you running a wired connection or are you running off wifi? If you are running off wifi, how many other connections does your laptop/desktop pickup? Quote Link to comment
MEXICO MAN
Wired, and I'm the only one who uses it. Quote Link to comment
DeathShot
Since you're talking about matchmaking, what is your rank and your set maximum acceptable ping? Quote Link to comment

MEXICO MAN
Silver 2, Everytime it says I went up a rank its still silver 2 for me. Idk what's that about. And 50. (The thing I mentioned about being bypassed above) Quote Link to comment
DeathShot
Silver 2, Everytime it says I went up a rank its still silver 2 for me. Idk what's that about. And 50. (The thing I mentioned about being bypassed above) Don't know what to tell you about your rank not going up. But, since you're a very low rank, I don't imagine too many people are going to be queuing around that rank at the same time as you. Try playing at peak times, after schools are out, on the weekends, after dinnertime, etc. and see if that makes any difference. 50 ping is also a very low ping to try and find matches at. Ping is determined by how close you are to the server, and how quickly packets will go to and from that server. When trying to find a match at such a low ping, and not being able to find one, it will reach out past your preferred ping and find a server, while still maintaining a relatively low ping. It is odd, however, that you are near Dallas, TX and having trouble finding a good server. What times are you playing? What is the ping when you usually find a match? Quote Link to comment
MEXICO MAN
I play at peak times. And it doesn't take long for me to find a match. (Usually less than 15 secs.) But the ping is still high. Quote Link to comment

MEXICO MAN
150-400 I usually get around 200 though. Edited December 10, 2014 by MEXICO MAN Quote Link to comment
DeathShot
150-400 I usually get around 200 though. Try speedtesting to both coasts (east and west), Canada, and the UK and see your pings (post them. I'm curious as to where you're being matched to). Again, I'm leaning more toward it being due to your rank and having such a low preferred ping. 50 is amazingly low, and you will only get that if you are matched to an in-state server, if you're lucky. I would recommend raising it to either 100 or 150 so that instead of the search giving up and just giving you whatever server it finds, it will still consider your preferred ping for longer.
