zoomy
Is there anything we can do about it? ddos protection, or maybe it might just be a DOS (distributed denial of service), and that would make it very easy to track, and if so, someone would be in court according to the CFAA if you guys choose to sue. if these ddoses continue, people may start to leave HG, and thats not what we want

Alprazolam
To be completely honest with you, It is most likely some kid with plastic who purchased a booter from online. There are many online, web-based booters. Judging by the fact that Fayze said we have DDOS protection then that most certainly rules out DOS as one's computer/internet connection would be incompetent to cause anything more than a little lag (or small spike) if that. I want to say 98% of people who find entertainment in booting/DDoS have VPNs to tunnel their IP addresses, not that having their IP address would do you much good anyway.. Problem with that is, if you have invested in a good booter that isn't dodgy, they as well have masks to protect themselves as well. And tracing to a VPN is most likely another dead-end. If we do have DDoS protection and we're getting booted constantly/successfully it is most likely unable to mitigate the attack(s).
Papa John
It is certainly a Distributed DOS, instead of from a single source. We are actively working to mitigate the attack.
Conduit
Been playing on the Zombie Survival server for a few weeks, this may be unrelated, but the other day before the DDoS attacks there was a player with the steam name "Bunny" and a few others I can't remember who were constantly, and very loudly, spamming voice chat claiming they were going to hack everyone. Could have just been a troll, but impeccable timing. Edited January 4, 2015 by Conduit

It's not uncommon for these idiots to get bored of the target and move onto "bigger and better things" so to say. Take care.

Magic
People hate popular servers, like ours. So we do our best to prevent these issues and make them a lesser issue and keep the server up 24/7 as best as we can.
Executive Council Kigen Posted January 4, 2015 Executive Council Share Posted January 4, 2015 We have another ZS server that is hardened against DDoS attacks. 192.95.44.10:27015 Both ZS servers share the same points database.
