Champ Kind Posted March 17, 2015 Share Posted March 17, 2015 Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish underwent successful season-ending tendon replacement surgery in his right arm Tuesday with no complications from the opration, the Major League Baseball club announced. The 28-year-old Japanese right-hander underwent the procedure, better known in baseball circles as "Tommy John" surgery, in Gulf Breeze, Florida, and will have his right arm in a sling for the next seven to 10 days and then have a brace on his right elbow. Surgeon James Andrews replaced the torn ligament in Darvish's right elbow with a tendon from his right forearm. Darvish, who helped Japan win the 2009 World Baseball Classic, spent seven seasons with the Nippon Ham Fighters, including a Japan Series title in 2006, before coming to the United States in 2012.
