stuv 101
I did it! I ranked up to Master Guardian 1!!! Just like the last time I ranked out the last ranking group (silver league); I wanted to list a few new lessons i learned while working through Gold Nova. 1.) Team Is Key: You can be the best fragger/bomb planter/defuser on your team; but if your team is unskilled/ doing poorly, your match will most likely end poorly. If you have a better plan that could work, speak your piece; if you can buy a teammate, do so; if you can play with friends (and not solo queue), even better. 2.) Proper Grenade Throwing: I downloaded 3 maps on the workplace that were intended to teach players how to throw grenades on Inferno, Mirage, and Overpass. So far, those smoke/flash/fire spots have helped me improve my performance on those 3 maps. My next goal is to find other Grenade throwing spots that can aid me in the rest of the maps. 3.) DEATHMATCH!!!: I took the advice from the last post I made and put more effort in deathmatch. Just playing one game a day can really help your shooting performance over time. My current goal is to put at least 200 hours in deathmatch. 4.) Deagles Save: I recently tried to learn how to use the Deagle. Originally I never used it cause I thought it was super inaccurate. What I learned was that you can't run and shoot with the Deagle (like every other pistol); instead, you need to use slower shots and either stop and shoot, or side step and shoot. One strat I found fun was buying armor and a deagle, wait for a pick, and take their stuff. Great way of saving money 5.) ALWAYS KEEP YOUR SIGHTS AT HEAD HEIGHT: enough said. 6.) The Art Of AWPING: AWPING is far more than just sitting in a corridor or sniper nest, waiting for your next meal. AWPING can be a shaolin martial art, with swift mouse movement, steady keyboard use, and calm nerves. Learning to do swift AWP Peaks, coordinated AWP use, and fighting multiple opponents with AWPs can leave a team defeated at the end of a round (or even the match). The art of Awping is within one's self 7.) When All Odd Are Against You: When worst comes to worst (got a really bad team, nothing but smurfs on the enemy team, someone abandons the match, etc.) try to learn something from the match. This is the hardest thing for me to learn, simply because I want to win more than anything. Sometimes, when I know it's GG even before the games over, I try to work on something during the match. Sometimes I work on grenade throws, pistol work (getting frags with pistols like in save rounds), lurk practice (waiting for someone to rotate and kill) , or kill with weapons I normally don't use. I hate losing more than anything, but it's better to learn from defeat than learn nothing from victory. 8.) Help The Lemmings: In other words, if you have a teammate who's new/lacking skill/inexperienced, help them out a bit. If the he's running head long into lurkers, redirect him; if he's out of money, help buy him; or if he's going to a site along, go with him. I remember I was new and unskilled at one point in time, it sometimes pays to give back to the community. 9.) Save The Little Things: Now i'm not talking about grenades, weapons, or in game money; i'm talking about memories. If your having a really good match, start recording it; if you made art on the wall with your knife/gun, take a picture; If you have a stat-traked weapon you like, rename it (and don't sell it). I can't remember how I got out of the Silver Ranks, and now seems like a mystery to me; I'll start saving more content as I continue my journey through CSGO, and continue to grow with this game I enjoy. P.S: I'll be turning 21 September 1st!! I'll try to do something online on that date or around it, hopefully I wont be too drunk. Cheers!!! 1 Quote Link to comment

Shaman
Congrats. Number six has been a huge help with me already (though before reading this). Definitely some good things to list. Though I would also say LISTEN as it can tell you exactly where someone is even with a non-surround sound system. There have been many times I've gotten the better of a few people because I could hear where they were heading. Which also leads to know the map but that is also part of knowing the grenade spots on maps. 1 Quote Link to comment
