TheAtrocity
Thanks majorly to the new point handicap system where bad people do next to nothing for points, not including but not limited to, zombine point bags, map win points, and a point multiplier, pointsaving has almost lost all its uses. We need a way to spend some monies. @papa John this was not entirely my idea *disclaimer How about a way to bet on which team will win? Details: Before wave 1 begins, players can press F9 to open a bet menu which they wager x amount of points (minimum 250 but negotiable), up to an amount i haven't bothered to think about yet but justifiably something around 500 or 1,000 into a pot. They can wager either humans or zombies winning. Should they win the wager, they get their points back plus 50% of what they put in. Should they lose, the server takes it. Now we must address unbalanced maps, such as the notorious insurance. Everyone could bet on humans and voila, an easy point making scheme. The bet feature could be limited to maps with z% win rate, probably no more than 15% but negotiable. Or, it could be such that the pot will give out the points evenly to the winners. For all maps. What do I mean? Well, if we have insurance and everyone votes human for the win and wagers 500 and humans end up winning as usual, nobody earns profit. That is, if 50 humans and 0 zombies all bet 500, those 50 will receive back 500. Any decimals or unevenness will be rounded down and lost. Remember points are awarded evenly to the winners. (This extends to other wagerers for zombie team.) Also remember that you could stand to lose points. If 49 humans bet 1000 for themselves and 1 human only wagered 250 points, they will profit from the system and everyone loses. It's a double edged sword. Conversly, if on insurance zombies won and those who were for that team tried extra hard, they stand to win a massive amount of points. Seems like a pretty reasonable plan incentive wise to get people from both teams to put some effort?
futo
Sounds great to burn points away without handing out massive amount of grims for people to grab-and-sell. But I'm afraid this will spread even more hate around the server, as that monkey or that gamer are shit cading and fail the team. Aren't we very toxic already with those "unnail your shit"? TheAtrocity
Then it's time for them to seriously learn how to cade. Lowering competition only made the server worse, and we need to bring it back up a notch and bring in new caders.
futo
Well did you mentioned in other posts that there are lots of people who log into the server for a couple and never come back. Yes those who are actively playing might be encouraged to enhance their skills, but you just cannot stop people who joined the server for the first time and shit cade. Oh and I don't need to remind you the votezlist doesn't work, and admins cannot blacklist them immediately without "sufficient warnings and time". Ultimately you will still get owned by shit cades and end of story. It's a good idea, but I bet it will bring more frustrations than fun, for both the yell-er and the ones getting yelled at. They see the cash and pointsaving, they'll come back. Before, it was never the case, with shitcades far and few in between. People wanted to be recognized and started to learn. Competition. Re-introducing something primitive isn't going to add much to the salt. I certainly didn't see that much salt thrown when people lost 2,000 point maps. Ultimately, it comes down to losing a few potential players NOW due to increased competition or invest in the server and raise the competitiveness so less bullshit happens and pull in greater numbers later on. futo
Nah faceguy there will be even more salt fields than ever when people are losing points due to shitcades. The betting is not like you lose in a 2k map: you simply miss out the opportunity to earn the 2k, but isn't worse off as the yield is simply 0; the betting however, actually take points from you, which is a negative yield. Points are most players' soul as we all know, and I bet little to nobody will bet after the first couple days where they lose crap tonnes of points for getting trolled. Indeed everyone can opt to not bet, and will not hurt anyone who don't; still why bother with a system which it is more likely to make people who love risk-taking saltier? Nibblewerfer
What is to stop someone from betting on zombie, det packing all the props and therefore throwing the match. Or for a zombie to bet on humans and then not do shit. A idea that would kill two birds with one stone is to combine this with the points per win system and make it that the player has to put points down on humans to win points at the end. Betting on zombies would be ridiculous unless their profits were greatly reduced compared to humans
Matt B
i think this is one of those ideas that sounds good in concept, but when implemented will either get abused, or not used at all.
