Horschel reached the par-five hole in two strokes and marked his ball to have it cleaned for his eagle putt, anticipating a tap-in birdie at worst. The rules of golf are unyielding and severe, and Horschel had no choice but to take a penalty stroke and drop his ball no closer to the hole.
