In my opinion, don't spend $1,500.

Your comp will be outdated within 2 years either way you go.

You should find someone trustworthy to build it for you.

You will get the best out of your dollars if you build it, otherwise you are paying for a name brand. (alienware/etc)

Spend half that and be set for any game you come across these days.

Why 8 gigs? I have 4 it's fine, Don't go to high unless your a big porn downloader.

Also if 1500 dollars can't get you far in the US, Just look at some British sites, it's around 1000 pounds into british money, I got my origanal for that, But yes ofc you have to update, I've spend around 1 grand on updates over the past 4 years, But there not like major if i don't get comp will not work shit, just stuff so it's quicker at loading, better graphics ect, I've also got a Old, but working geforce 8800 for sale, Not gonna charge load, but that's if you want it, not the best card in the world but it can handle all games i've played on + crysis, this is onlyi f you wanna got splashing money on other components and want a quick but good money saver

i7-860 - 2.8 ghz.

BFG nvidia gtx 285 .2gb ddr3 or dual sapphire radeon hd 5770 2gb ?

about 8gigs should be enough.

i dont know about the rest :P

do you have a 64bit OS or plan on buying one? if not half of that is going to be useless. the i7-860 is good but if your going to want to save yourself an upgrade might as well go with the i7-960 or AT-LEAST the 920. I'm not to familiar with ATI cards (I'm an nvidia fan), The GTX 285 is a good choice but no need to get the 2gb version of that.

2 gigs can handle that, i also run around 100 programs at once, if your thinking of gaming aswell and need storage space, once again take your money down to 4 gb, I've had my comp 3 years, Haven't even used 2 gb yet out of my 4, Just helps it run a bit faster.

as weeman said, If your looking for the mother of gaming cards, geforce GTX 280/285 is the way, Although on various tests they found 280 better than 285 in certain things, but 285 than the 280 in some other things, so try to decide you want your card to be best at, and look up at the tests.
