Champ Kind Posted September 15, 2016 Share Posted September 15, 2016 A major hurdle for financing a new stadium in Las Vegas to lure the NFL's Oakland Raiders was cleared Thursday when the Southern Nevada Tourism Infrastructure Committee ruled in favor. The 11-member panel approved $750 million in public funding for the proposed $1.9 billion venue, which would also have $500 million coming from the Raiders and $650 million from billionaire casino owner Sheldon Adelson, chief executive of the Sands. The public funding, still to be approved by Nevada state lawmakers, would be the most money ever awarded to an NFL stadium construction project.
