1970f100
I need some help on fixing my problem. I can connect to SOME servers. Very few. When I pull up my find servers the list is WAY shorter than normal. I cant find and HG servers or any of my regular favorites. I have a lot of time of steam so I have tried most of the normal stuff. I tried connecting thru console. Says failed after 4 tries. I have verified intergrity of game cache. I have restarted steam. Reinstalled CSS. I have restarted my router, computer, hooked up wifi and hardline. Nothing changes it. My ping in one of the few servers I can find is normal 30ish. For some reason it will even find servers that are in EU and such. Thats why I cant understand what is going on with this. I miss my office DM! Use to I would go delete clientregistry.blob but its seems that in my 3 year absence steam seemed to get rid of that lol. Any suggestions? The few servers it pulls up suck. I dont recall making any changes. I even tried to connect to GFL clan surf rpg dm and same response as Office. P.S. This also all comes after my HDD went out, but I played 2 or 3 nights after it went out before the issue started so I dont think its related EDIT: I also turned my firewall off with no help Edited December 2, 2016 by 1970f100
Ruthless.Assassin
Hi 1970f100, I would like you to try directly connecting to the server through console in order to do this I need you to start up your game if you need instructions on that please let me know. Try typing "connect 67.228.181.66:27015" and "connect 67.228.181.72:27015" those are 2 different HG servers, let me know if you have any error messages or are able to connect using that. Ruthless.Assassin
Okay, i'm going to take a further look into this to see if I can find out what is going on.
Ruthless.Assassin
I'm currently looking at the logs for the server's you tried connecting to but not seeing any attempt. I would recommend looking at your firewall on wireless router (if you have one), built into antivirus, as well as the build into the Operating System which i'm assuming is windows make sure that the ports 27000 through 27030 and 4380 are allowed. 1970f100
Okay so I have tried all of those. Im gonna put the list I have done in bullet points so its easier to read. Maybe we can fix this. Restarted my router/internet remotely and physically Restarted my computer Restarted steam Reinstalled CSS Ran steam as an administrator Verified integrity of game cache for CSS Turned firewall off Allowed ports and hl2 and css open access I tried connecting through console I cleared steams download cache. Connected wirelessly and wired no difference This is an example of a server I can connect to 206.221.188.42:27019 (promise im not advertising purely just a server example) When my friends are in servers I cant join em. I cant even see what server they are in. This is deeply irritating. I am running Windows 10 unfortunately, but I dont think that has anything to do with this I have got to go to work for awhile. I will be able to be on again in about 7 hours Thanks in advance EDIT: I was just able to connect to this server Connecting to 64.31.16.215:27016... Connected to 64.31.16.215:27016 Counter-Strike: Source Map: bhop_1n5an3 Players: 5 / 20 Build: 3398447 Server Number: 3 The name of it was a HG server, but I dont see it on yalls server list. Maybe a fake HG server who knows anyways I connected to it Edited December 2, 2016 by 1970f100
Ricardo Sims
Can you explain what you mean when you say you're hard wired? As in..Are you directly connected to a router via an ethernet cord OR Are you directly connected into your modem given to you by your ISP? (if this applies) If you are connected into your router, I would suspend transmissions temporarily and plug directly into your modem, if this applies/you are able to. If this resolves your issues, you know it's something with your router.

Ricardo Sims
Do me a favor, run a trace route to our server. I'm assuming you're using Windows. Start > Run > cmd.exe > Hit enter > type: tracert 67.228.181.66 > After it's complete, right click > Select All > Hit Enter(This copies everything) > Paste it to our forums in here. Ricardo Sims
It seems you're having a bit of issues with the connection to our servers. If a packet is not acknowledged within the expected timeout, an asterisk is displayed. However, a server can specifically not respond to a request in this manner as many requests by this form can bog down a server. Ignoring Line 2, because sometimes packet drop in the beginnings are normal, looking at Line 4, the packets are dropped at your ISP, NuLink. Line 6 is a complete time out. You drop packets in RTT1 and RTT2, but pick back up at RTT3. -- My conclusion: If you're 100% sure you've disabled any programs that would interfere with normal connection. ie; you've made exceptions in firewalls, you've tried to disable your AVS temporarily and connected, etc..I would investigate with your ISP as why you're having issues with connecting to some servers and not others.
