Champ Kind Posted February 10, 2017 Share Posted February 10, 2017 By Steve Holland and Kiyoshi Takenaka WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe opened two days of talks on Friday looking to cement a decades-old alliance between Japan and the United States that has been under strain because of the Republican's positions on trade and security. Abe set a hopeful tone, telling a U.S. Chamber of Commerce breakfast that he wanted to build a relationship of trust with the new U.S. leader. "I would like to clearly demonstrate the unshakable Japan-U.S. alliance to the world," Abe said ahead of White House meetings.
