i was thinking of investing on an ibanez ART or AG

or the WMD warbeast from bc rich

anyone have any tips for me??

As a guitar player for 12 years, I would say that an INVESTMENT in an instrument would be a guitar manufactured before 1970. You also have to consider the manufacturing company and the time of music era to make a final decision in your purchase. For example, the original Leo Fender guitars are worth a fortune yet the squire company guitars which seem so similar can be bought at retail prices for less than a hundred dollars. And who can imagine the stratocasters that Jimi hendrix used on his tour, did those stratocasters rise in price and value during and after his tour? OF COURSE THEY DID and they are either VINTAGE or REPLICA models! THOSE ARE INVESTMENTS

Think also about the style of music you are playing and the exposure your 'investment' will receive. if your going to be playing at home, a good gibson Les paul or Martin acoustic guitar with the proper humidity setting would be ideal purchase for investments; the guitar will not be on the road and not see as much wear and tear as your touring instrument, keeping authenticity to the instrument.

Also, If you intend to play rhythm guitar in your band, a definite choice would be two humbuckers (as seen on many epiphones and gibsons electrics) because of the balance of clarity to assist the lead and bass. However if your assuming to play lead, two humbuckers and a single coil pickup for the solos would be ideal to stand out above the drums and rythym guitar. For rythym, get a les paul. For lead, get a jackson or a higher end Ibanez. (In my opinion)

All in all, you need to know what your going to be doing with your guitar. If your going to be touring and having concerts every week and dont mind a few scrapes or dings on your axe, get a guitar for less than $1000. If you want an INVESTMENT, get an older, vintage guitar that is NOT manufactured and is at least 30 years old.

AND THE MOST IMPORTANT PART!!!

If your playing a 1967 Gibson les paul standard through a $50 crate amplifier, your only going to get that crate sound. AMPLIFIER > GUITAR trust me on this. And in its respect too, you can play a squire fender through a nice all tube Mesa boogie or Marshall half stack and get amazing results. You figure its a two part process, look at it in a autombile perspective: If you have a great nascar vehicle that is using regular rag, the car (of course built to its standards) will only use the regular gas it uses for fuel, so it will run at a less optimal speed than its competitors.

AMPLIFIERS supply the sound, its the GUITAR that finites the clarity and tone of that sound. Remember that in your shopping
