Basically you're the lord of a kingdom and you build up the civilization to make a stable economy and build a military to fight other kingdoms. There's modes without fighting and they're fun too. I think they're like the Civ games but I've never played them. I specifically remember playing them when I was younger because my uncle had the original and Crusader on his PC. He got Stronghold 2 after it came out. I haven't touched any of them after 2, but I remember Crusader was me favorite.
