I Love Lamp
Well, I got pissed at might computer last night, because it was locking up again. So I decided to say fuck it and just move it to my new case now. Well, in the course of moving it, I noticed something on my main storage drive. There was a blob of purpleish goo that was malleable just sitting right where the center of the disc inside would be. Is this a bad thing? The goo seemed to harden and solidify after all the parts cooled down, so I'm thinking that might be my issue, which, I really hope not, because if that hard drive fails I might be in deep shit. Any thoughts (Here's looking at you Terry, you big hunk o' man)?

ttaM
Has Grimace been fornicating with your drive? Lamp needs to learn to post answers to these questions, before we have to ask them. I think this should be answered right after what OS you run.

FukLife
If i was you just incase get your files off your harddrive now that you deffinitly do not want to loose and put them on a memory stick or transfer to another harddrive... IMO But the goo is just thermal goo probably leeking out of your harddrive. Witch means sooner or later your harddrive might burn out. Wingless
Erm... things shouldn't leak out of your hard drive. That's usually bad. I'd say that considering it could be a number of things (magnetic paste) you should probably make a good backup of your datas, clean that shit off and stop drinking grape soda above your case. Cr(+)sshair
That purple goo is special grease, just like car headlight bulb grease. It protects the connectors inside, so if it's leaking, you may want to back up everything then try to hustle the company for a replacement. Locking up could be a number of things... 1. Overclocking set too high (voltages) 2. CPU cooler paste is going downhill 3. Not defragging every month 4. Too much porn downloading 5. Hillary Swank is partying in there and you're not invited

Run speedfan and see if you can pick up the HD sensor and see how they are reading.

3D
Never heard of such a thing, but when i first heard this it sounded like your computer was close to death Reading up about what i thought it was i came up with this, i may have got this wrong but it could be leaking capacitors motherboard or something like that i read up. Now if this is the case then your lucky your computer is still running, and you should back everything up asap because your computer is about to die, Good news is these can be replaced, or so what i've read they can be.
