Moose1
Yesterday, I played on the Jailbreak server for the first time. The CT told us to crouch walk, and stay crocheted; Since I use the default keys, this means I had to hold down Ctrl. I have never used Vent before, and I had no idea that Ctrl is ALSO the default Mic key! People started to accuse me of mic spamming, and said they were about to report me, while I had no clue what was going on. I later realized what I was doing, and changed the key in Vent. So, heres my suggestion: Make sure that Recruits are fully aware that Ctrl turns their mic on!!!

Hobbes
Great, next the recruits are going to want a step by step guide on how to open up paint and draw a circle. Using your brain is good, but step 13 should be all you need. Edited January 16, 2010 by Hobbes
Moose1
Great, next the recruits are going to want a step by step guide on how to open up paint and draw a circle. When a new recruit gets on Vent for the first time, to tell a staff member that they submitted an app, it's not that hard for them to also throw in "Also, Ctrl is the default key for Vent, make sure you change it." n1ckkkkk
How long does it take to realise that the CTRL you use whilst you're in vent and the CTRL key that you use whilst you're in CS:S are actually the exact same button? But it's okay Moose, I found you a book that may be helpful. He knew they were same button He never knew ctrl was default button for vent Way to be a douche

I try to make a simple suggestion, and you all start calling me an idiot.
Moose1
How did he talk in vent to become a recruit then? Vent private chat. I don't have a mic. Edited January 16, 2010 by Moose1
I AM Your Reason
I don't think we should be too hard on him, but Moose, bro, how hard is it to find out that Ctrl is talk? HG is a great clan, you just kinda have to... warm up to the family a lil'.
Moose1
I Moose, bro, how hard is it to find out that Ctrl is talk? I don't have a Mic! If I did, I'm sure I would have noticed. But I didn't even try to find the talk key, because I can't use!
I AM Your Reason
I don't have a Mic! Why didn't you say so? That info probably could have kept you from being flamed. This is pretty understandable if he doesn't have a mic to use.
Moose1
As Rzn said it would have been helpful if you mentioned that, and I may not have flamed you. But anyway: How did you spam without a mic? My computer's mic is set to use an audio loopback. Thats how I can record things, (like ingame sound, and youtube music). So, when I turn my mic on, you would just hear an echo of every sound that comes through my speakers.
JessicaJoy
With this, everyone should know what the bind is for vent because everyone has to set up an account with the staff members...kind of a no brainer.

Wingless
Maybe I went to school when people had to work a little bit in order to graduate, but my assumption is that when you're using applications on a daily (or whenever you're on CS at least) basis, you put forth the effort to understand how basic functions work. That's about one step from "Sorry officer, I didn't know that if I pulled the trigger, the gun would fire..." There's a bloody FAQ... http://www.ventrilo.com/setup.php#Client_Quick_Setup
Chris12
how it you not hear the people on vent yelling to shut your mic off?

Why are you being such a jerk? I have been reading your responses to the other's post.... Not very nice...I would take a deep breath and not be a smart ass. And I don't have to read all the other topics before I post. I am just saying what I know from when I set up my ventrillo. Again...don't be a smart ass and respond with a smart ass answer. kthx
