ttaM
WinMo phones do the job. As long as Sense runs on top of it lol. I'm running 6.5 on my HTC Imagio (same version as the TP2 I think), and it's not bad until you get deep into the ugly honey-comb menus that Windows thought would be good for the OS. I do like the familiarity of WinMo coming from a desktop but Android is already stepping up everything they do and I believe have surpassed WinMo in usability/everything but popularity. It's still relatively new to the market and the only people that can appreciate how it functions are the geek population(men). =\

Wingless
I'm starting to dislike winmo less and less as the years go on, especially since 7 mobile is supposed to be coming soon. The OS used to be terrible on memory management, ugly and requires all sorts of hacks and work-arounds... largely like every other version of Windows, but I think they're starting to get the idea now. If I ever volunteer to take a company phone, I'm going to be stuck between Blackberry and Winmo, and considering the difference in age of OS between the two, I might get winmo. But, as you all probably aware, I was an early adopter for the G1 and an early adopter for the Nexus one, and have never thought twice about it (Other than no hardware keyboard on the N1, but that's a story for another day). This is both for political and functionality reasons, because frankly, if I had to choose to trust Google, Microsoft or Apple with my life, it's going to be Google. Shady shit goes on in every step of Apple's development process, and don't even get me started on Palm. /tangent
ttaM
Windows 7 series or whatever they're calling it looks promising but it's going to be about separating themselves from everything they've done so far(seems like they've been doing a good job) because of people like Phonedog.com who absolutely despise WinMo and point out every flaw while embracing everything else as the next big smartphone. WebOS from what I've seen is great, the Blackberry OS is garbage in my eyes. Like I said, give me any OS with Sense on top of it and I'll take it. I haven't had a chance to play with WebOS, but from absolutely every indication of the latest Palm launches, the company is pretty much fucked. Nice try, though. Blackberry holds a space in my heart for work-only functionality. It does messaging and it does it very well. Unfortunately, that's the only thing it does very well and everything from the browser to memory management is handled very poorly, which is unacceptable at this point in the race. You could start to tell there were issues when they released the Storm and they pretty much threw a UI and touch interface on top of their existing OS. And it was terrible. They need to step up their game if they want market share in the personal and power user sectors. For all intents and purposes, I really like what Android has done in the last 18 months and even more how the development doesn't seem to be slowing down at all. Google just acquired some assets that specialize in optimizing Dalvik code for graphical application, so they should start catching up on frame rates to where the iPhone is. Outside of the loyalty to the existing iTunes market, that's one of the reasons why they're missing out on gaming and other assorted fa****ry, and I'm perfectly fine with that, but I suppose everyone needs to have their fart app before they make a major investment. I Love Lamp
A lot of what does it for me is how the companies handle their markets. Iphone: shadiest mfers I've ever seen. Between their random selectivity of apps for their store and their insistence on overpricing their hardware, I would never get an iphone. What's even worse is the contract that devs have to agree to before even getting a chance to submit their app. Winmo: like you guys said, familiar os. Nothing outstanding, but you know the system. Blackberry: was good when it was the only smartphone OS available. If the dev team actually put work into it, it could be a viable contender again. Android: a google product through and through. Between its transparent open source tools and the "everyone's invited" market, I think it has a chance to be something great. The biggest hurdle right now is getting companies (like skype) to create an official app for android. Once they start adopting the os, the others days might be numbered. I Love Lamp
Also. Palm are fa****s. I've never even tried their product, but thanks to their snooty, homo, dick-in-the-butt commercials, I never will.

And besides, it all depends on what features you want on your phone. iPhone is good for gaming, WinMo and Blackberry is good for business, you know, that stuff :

Have you ever noticed that the iPhone has over 100,000 apps for it, while Android has 10,000, So if it's so easy to get your app approved in android, then why does it have less apps? I'm not saying android is bad, it's fine but iPhone OS is better. Ya and WinMo gets ur shit done but its nothing special anymore and unless they have a major overhaul nothing ever gonna happen. Palm just sucks in general. Blackberry OS is better than Palm but worse that android and iPhone OS.

Again, you're spewing all kinds of inane shit all over this thread without any logical backing of why you think like you do. Then again, I think that sentence almost speaks for itself. Go read an article on the density of pay apps in the iTunes market compared to Android, followed by an article on the differences between the TOS for submitting to the iTunes and Android markets. That should cover pretty much everything if you are capable of grasping the concept of free market.
