Guest The_Monkey
Have you uninstalled ALL of the ATI drivers?? then loaded new ones??
Guest The_Monkey
Try this: http://www.repairyourpcnow.com/resources/atikmdag-has-stopped-responding.php Download the ATI tool and set your fan speeds to 100% all the time. If the above doesn't work, RMA the card, or try another card in your system. Edited March 4, 2010 by The_Monkey
Cr(+)sshair
Legit answer: Your bios needs to be updated. Go to control panel/devices/hardware. Your mobo should be listed there. Search up the latest bios update and get it. The problem lies within you probably updated your graphics card, but the new drivers are calling an outdated sys file and it's reading it like a foreign newspaper. RetiredTacos
Why are you telling him to upgrade his motherboard bios? Where are you getting this information? Edited March 4, 2010 by Terry Taco
Guest The_Monkey
Why are you telling him to upgrade his motherboard bios? Where are you getting this information? Referring to the motherboard bios makes me draw a blank. The drivers hook into the os which hooks into the hardware. So his problems will most likely not be fixed by updating the bios, as crosshair has stated. A google search returns that there are problems with windows 7 and how it treats video card hiccups. It is quite possible that after boot and on os load he is having a random hiccup initializing the graphics driver, which causes the bsod. Some have reported that fan speeds may be playing a factor, or even gpu clock speeds. Out of process of elimination, download the ati tool and override your fan speeds to 100%, and reboot a few times. If the problems persist, it could be hardware related. As I have stated before, uninstall ALL of your graphics drivers, then reinstall the latest. If you have already done this, then try the fan speed fix. Yeah I meant BIOS whoops...Good advice monkey, sounds like a video card driver issue, he should be able to use ATI tool and see what his temps are and it should be obvious if its overheating or not

n0ne
*cough* Alienware/Dell are no name mobo's *cough* Should of built it yourself. 'Cause now, finding info on these mobo's is a bitch... Best bet, send it to Alienware if you can. What have you tried so far? So we can rule stuff out. What might of caused this? Have you added new hardware before this happened?
