RetiredTacos Posted April 16, 2010 Share Posted April 16, 2010 I hate to call you out on this...Mom had a 2005 Chevy Tahoe, the tranny went in mid-2008. She has a 2009 Tahoe and the tranny started slipping in February. She doesn't drive like a maniac either. =/ People laugh at this...but Toyota's are still a very good option. There have been a few instances of issues with random acceleration, but keep in mind that for the past eight years, Toyota has sold more cars within the United States than any other manufacturer. And if you get an older Toyota there's no chance of an issue. I drive a 2003 Camry and couldn't be happier. Never needs work done, has just shy of 100k miles, and runs like a champ. It's personal preference and rather than ask us, who have our own opinions, do some research and create your own opinion. =] You will be happier in the end that way. Yep my 06 silverado trans has been rebuilt before it hit 80k miles by previous owner, no telling what happened. Toyota is a good manufacture regardless of their recalls, if same thing happened to GM they would like should make a bulletin and have it repaired Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Master Posted April 16, 2010 Share Posted April 16, 2010 Well good luck find the brand you want for that much around you. Just make a list and look on multiply used car websites. Like: Do you want it for speed/looks/pulling stuff/room (this will drop down the model) Do you care on the car company? (As in do you hate GM, Ford, Honda... ect) What color do you want? (Pick a line of colors you like) Since you live in texas AC MUST WORK. Cause this summer it is going to be 95+ A Lot. lol Once you done a little bit of information find couple cars you like. Then go look at them. If you know nothing about cars then try and bring someone that does. Since if there is any problems with the car just walk away. No need to buy a car that you will spend a lot more money into just to get it running. -Major leaks ( if it is a bad hose/gasket/o-ring you can fix it with some time but be careful what you pick) -If you see blue smoke/white smoke i say just walk away. -Let it run for a little bit and look for leaks/other problems. Dealer clean up the car and make it look perfect but they will sell their mother to you just to get rid of that car. DON'T buy the first car you see. Take your time finding the right car. Just look at 2 -3 of the same type of car and find the best one. If it still there when you plan on getting it then it was meant to be. In Arlington they have a lot of good dealers that sell cheap with good cars. I got my car there and it runs just find ( Yet it has a oil pan gasket leaking and it isn't a fun project to replace) just take your time and you'll find your car, Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
