LaMigra
I average about 15-20 fps in GTA IV in both multiplayer and Single Player that is with the auto con-fig... even when I tweak the setting all the way to low I still average 15-20 in other words its really annoying for multiplayer especially since I always get disconnected with this message "your computer is to slow" here are my specs: CPU-Z Validator 3.1 any suggestions/ideas? please stay on topic

HyperC
I would first overclock your cpu @ 3.0 and see if the fps jump that is if your cpu cooler can handle it...But ya that fps you got is really bad
Cefdinir
Maybe update your GPU drivers?? In addition your also might want to try the Mobo drivers as well..
LaMigra
Yeah I looked into the issue more today and found out that the game does not like my phenom quad core CPU... Apparently a good amount of people with high end computer( compared to the games system reccomendations) are having the same issue... I guess I will have to wait for a patch or when my new CPU arrives
RetiredTacos
Looks like you figured it out, from what I've read that game is extremely CPU demanding. A PHII should help a lot.

RetiredTacos
here it is Newegg.com - ASUS M3A32-MVP Deluxe/WiFi AM2+/AM2 AMD 790FX ATX AMD Motherboard There's a bios update on Asus's website that gives support for that CPU. You will see zero benefit by going to an AM3 board. ASUSTeK Computer Inc.
