S.W.A.T. is usually a local law enforcement branch's last resort to gang fights, etc. while GSG9 is a counter terrorist unit that is meant to deal with high security stuff. Anyway, I'll check it out. Slazenger Posted April 21, 2010 Share Posted April 21, 2010 SWAT and GSG9 are two totally different organizations. Not sure how they can group them together and compare them. SWAT is a department of local law enforcement that has tactical training and is operated solely by that department as a quick-response tactical team. They are capable of breaching, seizing, and arresting as well as crowd control/dispersion. GSG9 is Germany's primary Counter-Terrorism force (comparable to Delta in the US). They are operated by the federal government and have just a couple locations that they operate from. The Germany Federal Police controls their actions and they are a slower-response to high threat levels, crises, national security threats, and other sensitive emergencies. Was that "concur, though" or were you trying to disagree? Also, shotguns are mostly breaching weapons.
