ricky2442
I haven't had this problem in all my years of playing css. Basically I was playing jb like any other day but suddenly I started to get loss going up to 80, then going back down to 1 and up to 80 again. So I reinstalled css and 1 hour later the same thing happened, however this time it only went up to 20 loss. I've been messing around with my rates for hours ever since but my loss never goes down. I don't know if this is related but steam decided to delete my servers on favorites and history tab on the same day. Hopefully someone can help me. Moto
hmm usually loss is related to ISP/conection but I may be mistaken as this is something I have heard about from other reputable sites.

I think. You could try playing with your cmdrate or updaterate and rates, but it's usually something you can't help in-game. Unless the server is doing it to everyone. enigma#
Hey ricky, On DM servers (and JB as well), I get a lot of choke/loss as well. Personally, it hasn't affected me in anyway yet but from what I understand it can occur if 1. There is not enough bandwidth on your connection to complete the "tics"... umm nothing you can really do except maybe upgrade your ISP connection. However, if you typically have not had that problem it may be something rather in the background (e.g. BitTorrent, MSN Messenger, Skype etc...) that is leeching bandwidth. This is usually the most common problem 2. What I have personally noticed is that on my larger monitor, I get a lot more choke/loss (both) than on my 20" LCD (I currently have a 24" LCD Panel). Try updating your drivers for your video card and chipset as those two are a common factor in latency (although who knows) 3. Rates are an influencing factor but there is the limitation of the server as well. I am pretty sure the server is 100 tic so you shouldn't have an issue. For 100 tic servers (with a good computer) cl_cmdrate 100 cl_updaterate 100 rate 40000 or If you have an older computer try cl_cmdrate 100 cl_updaterate 100 rate 10000 4. You can always try to either defrag your HDD or check the disk for errors by invoking 1. chkdsk /r C: 2. Defrag utility Honestly, I highly doubt it is this problem but with computers, it can be really any problem 5. Finally, try running Steam in low priority and killing off your AV for your JB session a) in your command prompt type the following in "start "Steam" "C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" /low If you don't want to keep typing that, I can script a batch file for you if you want (dead simple xD) Edited May 3, 2010 by enigma#
