Guest The_Monkey
Alright. A few details before even making any phone suggestions in this thread: I am an ATT customer...so don't suggest phones that will not work on US GSM networks. I am at an impasse here. I have an HTC Fuze (Touch Pro or Raphael, whatever the hell you want to call it). I have been running various NRG roms from over at XDA, which have given my phone new life through the year and a half I've had it. Recently, my phone has been acting up. I am due for an upgrade, and am having a hard time selecting a new phone. I slobber over the Droid Incredible, the Evo 4G, and the Nexus One from Verizon, Sprint, and T-mobile respectively. However, I must stay with ATT. I hate Apple, and not having Flash on my phone is a deal killer (I have flash support now on my phone through Skyfire). I am torn between getting a Motorola Backflip (an Android phone), or a Palm Pre Plus. I am not completely sold on either, and am tempted to tough it out for something better. I use to live off of my phone, but given its recent troubles, I hardly use it.
Dan1
I'd deffo go with Android, but with me having no idea about the limits of AT&T, I can't really help with handsets.

Rapt0r J3sus
I have the Motorola Backflip, and i must say it works great. The Android Market is expanding rapidly, and the phone just functions greatly.

ttaM
The Motorolla Backflip is a gimmick phone that barely qualifies as a "smartphone". Most phones these days made by HTC are golden. Last I heard AT&T was still getting the GSM version of the Nexus One, but it does have it's problems as both Verizon and Sprint dropped it for the Incredible/Evo 4g. Like John said, very, very soon you'll have your own Android phone(NOT DROID YOU FUCKING IDIOTS THAT'S VERIZON'S VERSION!) on AT&T and that'll probably be your best bet. Or you can be a fucking boss and go Nokia... Nokia N900 - Full phone specifications Edit: Android's latest build "Froyo" is supposed to finally bring "full" flash support and that should be out in time for the Evo 4g(June 4th, I've already made plans to be sitting there when the doors open.) Wingless
+1 John/Lamp. Android is the way to go, even more so for a handset that is decent. I live on that damned thing and couldn't be happier. I've been running Android since the early adopter days when I bought my G1 in Tacoma during my vacation, prior to KS T-mo stores selling 3G devices. You seem to have similar feelings as me being a fellow developer (albeit of different types) and Android has the features, speed AND it's open source. Wingless
Sure wingless ignore my post, dick. It was kind of an assumption that you were on the side of Android. My original response was going to be "+1 to those that aren't of Spanish decent", but that would have included Lt. and Raptor. *shrug*

Guest The_Monkey
Trust me, I've been eyeballing a couple of nokia phones as well....problem is, I'll end up waiting till the N8 comes out. This doesn't help. Plus the fact that not getting a phone that is subsidized is a waste of money, since you are paying for the subsidy any ways, though you are not on contract. I guess I'll wait it out another month.

Pay the fee and go with Sprint with the EVO 4G (assuming that you're in an area that has 4G coverage). It's well worth it, although you'd have to wait a few weeks to get it. But here's the question, what is your fee, it can't be that much, can it? I mean, you didn't recently renew with the company or something, did you? If you're late in your contract, the fee should be relatively low. And, by signing up with someone else such as Sprint (or even Verizon or whatever), it would give you a discounted price on a new phone for a new contract. Or, you can get a pre-paid phone and stick with that. No dealing with shitty companies. Or...., you can go with a landline and deal with that. I am in a family plan with my wife, who loves her iPhone...as such, I cannot switch. And BTW, there isn't a cancellation fee for me, as I am out of contract, but she is in contract.
