General Red
Geek squad does good work. Its just exteremly overpriced. My friend worked for qeek squad. He charged a guy 70$ to INSTALL a stick of ram...Took him approx 45 seconds. Pretty ridiculous. I just pulled apart my main computer and cleaned it up (while i wait for my video card back from EVGA, those bastards) and acutally cleaned up the thermal grease and reapplied it (hping i didnt fuck up the pins, wont know until video card gets back) and i found a fan that needs to be connected for system stability (ch_fan1) cassis fan 1. So im hoping when i get my video card back, ill be running as best as possible. GL

Wingless
Geek squad does good work. Its just exteremly overpriced. No. That's like saying that a monkey can write the works of Shakespeare. Yes, it's statistically possible, but for every monkey that can, there are 38324623647327489 monkeys that cannot. I've stepped on electronics and they ended up working better than if they touched the Geek Squad desk, AND it was a lot cheaper doing it my way. Oblongs
i dont really have anything againts GS but ever since i taught myself how to build my own comps i fix my own shit, if you actually sit down for like an hour and look at how to build your own comp its like a lego kit its easy. and if you have problems you cant figure out yourself google is your best friend cause its taught me alot. General Red
my friend worked for geek squad and actually stole their kits for removing viruses, caches etc. Worked amazingly well. It was a boot cd of course. I still think theyre work is fine (if not a little sketchy) but i do my own shit. Its WAY WAY WAY overpriced. And, sometimes you get some serious RTards
enigma#
If you're a nerd, why Geek Squad just use that BIG Sucker of yours =] (your brain of course xD) I work retail and IT so yes I understand and share many frustration of both retailers and customers. And yes, if you do get an incompetent tech your computer might as well go to the trash now... =(

I wouldn't take my car to a shop if 4 of the 5 mechanics rebuilt transmissions backwards half of the time.

GL see... this is your problem. the only thing they do "good work" on is installing RAM, defragmenting the hard drive, etc. if you have any "real" problems they suggest a reformat or replace several components, just like i would at home. they do nothing that the mid- to below average user couldn't do. FEBRUARY
i bought my computer from best buy. they said "we will set up the computer, the operating system, and download the latest drivers. but it will cost you a installation fee of $145." i grabbed my computer and monitor box and left. their work is terrible and way overpriced. IMO D.I.Y or bring it to circuit city.
