Before everyone links me to every thread about how to reduce lag, please read first.

I have read and tried EVERYTHING.

My ping varies from 67 then jumps to 300+

Every time I join a server, it just lags to a point I have to CTRL ALT DELETE so I can force quit the game.

I have this in my autoexec right now.

rate 30000

cl_cmdrate 101

cl_updaterate 101

I have also tried

rate 25000

cl_cmdrate 66

cl_updaterate 66

as well as

rate 20000

cl_cmdrate 67

cl_updaterate 67

and mixed and matched between all of them.

I have reinstalled TWICE.

Deleted my clientregistry.blob file

Went to the steam forums and found the same thing in our forums...no help there.

I have also restarted my computer a million times as well as went through and uninstalled programs I no longer need.

I have installed the new updates for my video card as well as the new updates for the C++ Redistributable.

Here is everything about my computer.

Windows Vista Home Premium

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+ 3.00 GHz

Memory (RAM): 3.00 GB

System Type: 32-bit Operating System

I am in need of help. Please, anyone with ANY knowledge with what might be happening, please respond.

If you have no idea, please don't post. Don't wait your time or my time.

Thank you

Hmm

Under the assumption you're playing under low video settings already, have you tried stopping all unncessary programs in the background (I'm not sure if that was mention so pardon me if I get it wrong)? (services incl.)

Next, do you share your internet connection with someone? If yes, there *might* be a possibility of them causing choke either by downloading/uploading. This typically is not an issue unless someone is stealing all the bandwidth.

Another thing (I've personally tried) is installing Steam into a different working directory. (e.g. instead of C:\program files\steam" try C:\Steam\) I'm not sure if someone has mentioned that already so forgive me if that was mentioned =(

Umm finally try port-forwarding... this usually isn't the issue since most routers have nice NAT capabiltiies.

My apologies if I'm not being any more of help =(
