Dan1
I currently have an old version of a nVidia GeForce 9800GT (Dual DVI) 512mb and since it's shit as anything for games, now. I am thinking about (maybe) getting the Sapphire HD 5870 1GB GDDR5 (Sapphire HD 5870 1GB GDDR5 Dual DVI HDMI Display Port.. | Ebuyer.com) which is like £320 ($480). This is to get decent FPS/settings on CS:S, TF2 (any other valve game) and WoW Which GFX cards would you recommend/do you have? EDIT: I should also add that I am only paying this price so that I don't have to constantly upgrade, even though in 2011 I probably will have to with the rate games are expanding. BlackEyes
I got a GTS 250 just a few days ago because my old one started to artifact again. I didn't want to bake the old one but the GTS 250 suits perfectly for my needs.

It artifacts on single screen, but not on dual. :S One of the main reasons I bought a second monitor and why I want to upgrade.

What brand is that CPU? I'd be worried if its cheap it won't be enough for the 5870. Assuming your power supply is good, the 5870 is a friggin tank and if I had 400$ to spend on a video card, that'd be the one to get. I'd pick up the XFX brand myself. Dan1
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5850 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card [21162-00-50R] Graphics and Video ATI HD 5850 Series Time to get saving, methinks. I'm hoping a 500W PSU will run that. *Just looked it up: 500 Watt or greater power supply with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express® power connectors recommended I think (on the weekend) I'll take the PC apart, give it a clean and check for the 6-pin connectors. kommanderj
Hey Dan, if your looking for a cheaper card that has a lot of bang for the buck, im currently running a ATI Radeon HD 4870 and it runs everything great. they dont sell the brand i have anymore on newegg, but check around for the ATI version. the only downside to this card is it doesnt have DirectX 11 but it does support all the games you said earlier, and im running basically what you have now Q6600 and 4gb of ram but i have a 750W power supply, but i would think you can run this on a 500W considering you can run the 5850 with a 500W. Tell me what card you end up going with

Skiptron
If you wanna save some money, get the Nvidia 460. From all the PC and overclocking forums, there the best card, and can be compare up to the 5850. But if you want ATI only,5870 is a great card. But that's up to you. I got the MSI 5770 Hawk and the card is awesome, can play all the games i have, Including BC2 and a good FPS (Around 30-70 FPS) You can get two 5770 and Crossfire it and it performs as good as one 5850 (But for lesser price! Depending on promotion and other stuff). Check newegg.com out. Look at the graphics card your interested and read some of the users review (Important part is research, research and research.)
