network new transfer protocol...i have little knowledge about this, are you saying thats what i use? or thats what torrents are?

Network News Transfer Protocol actually. It's the protocol for Usenet. What the big kids use. For more info check out ispnews.com or easynews.com or something similar.

I meant I also believe torrents to be unreliable crap. No I take that back. I know torrents are unreliable crap because I used to have to fill out the Subpeona compliance forms at work when people got caught.

Unreliable? DMCA take down notices? Yeah if you're a noob and use public trackers like TPB, Mininova, etc. There's no security on them whatsoever.

Private trackers is where The Scene's uploads are spread to first. It's faster and has way more content than any newsgroup on Usenet. What? The longest retention day is 300-600 days? Some of the trackers I'm on have content that's ~6 years old and well seeded.

Speeds are phenomenal since people actually upload and not just leech. We're talking 100s of dedicated 100mbit and gigabit servers serving up content.

But if you think torrents is just what you find through a search engine, you're gravely mistaken.

If anyone is interested and knows how to use a torrent client, I can give out a few invites to a site that I admin at. We have over 30k torrents and ~20k members with a very active IRC server (around 700+ people in there at all times) and the seeding requirements are simple.

Seed each torrent for 60 hours or until .75 ratio. Easy peasy!
