DarkHelmet
Ok, i'm back. I was forced to sell my new PC to get the rest of the money for a down payment on a new car due to some punk ass that decided to hit my truck while showing off and he didn't have insurance. Working on taking him to small claims, but that will take forever and i'll be lucky to collect anything. Anyways, I had to break out my old pc ( updating it at tax time ) and the PS in it is only a 350 watt. I've disconnected all the fans I could ( the side of the case is off now ), but as you can gather i'm still short on power. Any suggestions for a PS? I'm low on cash due to college and new car payment and school starting soon for my kid.

Going with the i5 and a new MOBO , 6 gigs DDR3 and a XFX 5770 HD video card at tax time.
RetiredTacos
Best bet is to buy used, I'll keep an eye out and see if I can find any. If you have to buy new the Corsair 400 watt PSU is 50-20$ rebate so 30$ for a PSU that will power your i5 rig...

Plaayer
Well if your planning to run an i5, 6 gigs of ram, and a 5770, you should probably head towards the 700+ range just to be on the safe side. But since you are gonna wait, a 400-450 is good

Yeah I'm saying the corsair 400 watt will run the i5/5770 as well with issues. If you run a bigger videocard or multiple HD's then you'll have to upgrade. You do NOT need 750 watts for that setup.
