Guest The_Monkey Posted August 23, 2010 Share Posted August 23, 2010 Good antivirus. You could also use spybot/search and destroy's tea timer to stop registry edits, or prompt for approval. It is completely annoying though. If it is an online game, and isn't using a shit ton of resources, run it in a VM, or play it via a Linux Live CD. When you install it, it gives you the option of installing the optional tea timer. The tea timer stops changes to the registry, and asks you if you want to make that change. This will stop viruses from editing the registry. A VM is a virtual machine. It is a logical installation of another operating system within the confines of the currently running operating system. A Linux Live CD is a bootable cd/dvd with Linux on it. This cd/dvd has the essentials necessary to surf/brows the internet, as well as do basic functions like document processing, graphics editing, and system troubleshooting. This is by far the safest way to go, as it creates a volatile situation, whereby volatile is a good thing. Volatile states allow the system to "start fresh" every time you boot. In other words, it doesn't save any personal identifiable information on your computer unless you specifically direct it to do so. Never play on public computers (Library, school computer, or gaming cafe) or at a friend's house. Use sexy anti-malware/spyware programs such as Spybot Search and Destroy and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. A realtime anti-virus program. Do your own research on the program that would best do the job for you. Be extremely cautious with porn, pirated materials, and random crap your friend's send you. For MMO's don't use plugins/mods.
