I have a desktop that I don't really use anymore. I usually use my laptop to play CS:S and other games. Lately I've been experiencing lag, probably due to the other crap that I have on my laptop lowing it down.

Desktop specs.

OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium

Version: 6.0.6002 Service Pack 2 Build Build 6002

OS Manufacturer: Microsoft Corporation

System Manufacture: Dell Inc.

System Model: Dell DV051

System Type: X86-based PC

Processor: Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.80GHz, 2793 Mhz, 1 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s)

BIOS Version/Date: Dell Inc. A04,4/4/2006

SMBIOS Version: 2.3

Installed Physical Memory: 1.00 GB

Total Physical Memory: 0.99 GB

Available Physical Memory: 309 MB

Total Virtual Memory: 2.24 GB

Available Virtual Memory: 1.23 GB

Page File Space: 1.28 GB

I would like to see if I could rip out the guts in the computer and just get a whole new power supply, board etc...

You are not going to be able to reuse that case. That case/motherboard is backwards or mirrored to what the current standard is. Meaning, your side panel access is on the wrong side of the case. And you won't be able to turn the new motherboard 180 degrees because the PCI slots would be towards the top of the case. You'll have to start from scratch. But you could probably reuse the DVD-ROM, SATA HDD, and card reader that is if you get the appropriate interfaces on your motherboard (IDE, SATA II, and ??? respectively).

Cases are cheap, but you get what you pay for and if you go with a quality one it will last you forever.

Hope that helps.
