If you go through the game commentary, they explain every art decision that helps make the game great. It's not just about the art style, however, it's actually the most balanced FPS game I've ever played! They've been doing free major updates for about 2 years, and they're still doing this with the polycount updates. If you don't have this game by now, GET IT!
