TSA

You guys are making it look as if the TSA's main objective is to rape you. I just went through the scanner when I flew to Houston. Sure, I don't like it, and the patdown seems gross. But until it's gone, I'm dealing with it. The kids and old people thing, however is completely retarded.

I have issues with the scanner. Radiation buildup in our bodies over time is an issue. Yes, the scanner at first glance may not be harmful, but repeated use is dangerous. For instance, lets say that my aunt, who has cancer were to travel. She has already had radiation treatment, and has had quite a few scans that involve other forms of radiation. You reach a point in your medical treatment that your body can't handle anymore radiation. All past sources of radiation beyond normal daily routine must be factored in.

I'm not saying that you will get cancer, or some other illness, from the scanners. But I am saying that it can contribute to any other problems as a whole over time, as with any radiation. Why add to it? For a false sense of safety? I say hell no.

I also don't want to be felt up. It is a blatent abuse of civil liberties. Especially since if you refuse to give consent, you are criminally liable and can face fines and possible jail time.

If baddies are going to screw with an airplane, they'll find a way. The only way to stop them is to apprehend them before they get to the f'ing airport.

Monkey...1,000 scans = a chest X-Ray. It's scanning for carbons emitted by explosive material. Obviously something big is in the works by terrorists that we don't know about and the government does, that's why it needs to be done. You never ever know if that granny or 5 year old has been brainwashed by extremist. We've been surprised before...

This is true. You will never know who or what is being planned. Our government hides things from us for out own good. I don't here people complaining about the guy we just got in Portland. People had no idea that the FBI had sold him fake bombs and such. Yet when we try to protect ourselves and do everything we can to stop bombs from getting on our planes people bitch. Then we take them out a bomb goes off and people say we didnt do enough. MAKE UP YOUR MIND!!!!!!!

TSA i believe is totally correct in this. You have to realize that not EVERYONE will be subjected to this infact only 20-30% of people have to do it. It is a random selection of people and honestly i doubt anyone would have to fly 10 times and somehow get picked for the body scanner ever damn time. As for the video of the kid. Gtfo. The dad was the one who removed the kid's shirt and also the family never lodged a complaint about it. The fact that some jackass decided to post it on the internet and lie about it is stupid.

If they had a legit reason to do it then good for them. They thought they saw something odd, I dont understand how you expect us to protect our airplanes if we dont take security precations. People who want to kill innocent people will do it any way possible and that includes strapping bombs to little kids. So if this saves hundreds of lives so be it.

The TSA is ordered to do a 3% random pat-down of all travelers. They gotta fill the quota so they let 8 people just through the scanner then take the 9th for the extra pat-down.

This is the harsh reality of the time. BTW you get more radiation every day then you would from spending a couple seconds in this machine.

Of course you do. This is obvious. But why expose us to more just for a false sense of security.

Also, at this point, what retarded terrorist is going to go on a plane with something strapped to them? If they were smart, they'd take a pack of matches in their carry on (pack of cigs too as to not look suspicious), and hide whatever tiny explosives they want in their anus. A pat down and scanner are not going to find that. I guess we need to do cavity searches now. What if it was surgically implanted....aww shit, need notes from doctors now. Wait, but what if the doctor is a terrorist?

9/11 was bad. And that was preventable if the security guards actually checked their bags. Why in the fucking world of super fuck would you let someone on a plane with a fucking box cutter? If it was strapped to their person, metal detector would have gone off. If it was in their carryon, it would have been seen in the xray machine.

My point is, if the terrorist is already at the airport attempting to board a plane, then we are too late. If the FBI had an inkling of a feeling that he/she was a terrorist, they should have been acted upon prior to showing up at the damn airport.

I semi-agree with monkey. In The Economist had an article on this, and it referenced a private-security owner saying that the current measures were more propaganda than they would actually stop organized terrorism. You have to keep in mind, these people have the resources to ship a few g-to-a missiles into the US and take out a few planes. Planes are now so well protected because they were proven to be effective weapons on 9/11. Now, however, I'm sure terrorists have already found some flaw in regulation of some other equally or more lethal weapon.

Yeah, I mean (call me crazy) but somtimes, I just am waiting to board a plane, and I think of easy, logical ways to bypass airport security with a weapon. I look at the cameras and the angles their at, and even me without even putting much thought, can think of at least one good idea..

but there's always a back door. Just like on computers, if you want to get in, then one way or another, you'll probably get in.

I think Racial Profiling is the way to go. I mean think about it. Most terrorists are Arabs. so if they put Arabs through the full body scanner instead of being "politically correct", we would be safe and not inconvenienced at the same time. I'm not saying all Arabs are terrorists or anything in that tone.
