Cr(+)sshair
You can thank Robert Sherman for creating that conflict. And it's valid. We put God into our Federal system only because of fear of the Soviet Union. We put it on our money, in our pledge, in court rooms...it's an issue of prejudice. By putting God into the Fed system, we excluded the minority of Atheists of the time which IS prejudice of a small percentage of Americans. Linoleum Knive
I last said the pledge in the 5th grade. When I got to middle school I noticed in the office that it was not required, so I said fuck it, I don't wanna say it.

c00k1em0nst3r
No offense, but I disagree with the "Under God" part and I'm from the South. I'm also Buddhist. Christianity is overrated.

j_dot
Good point Cr(+)sshair and Batters. Your right that my statment left out those people that don't believe in any god and I apologize for that. I do believe the we have the right to practice and believe in whatever we want in this country and separation of church and state as I understand it covers that i.e. The original text reads: "...I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between Church & State." written by Thomas Jefferson in 1802. What do you think? Am I off base as to what you ment?
Isaac
I always said the pledge when I was school, I had the deep & loud voice that lead the class haha. I was proud to say it because of the struggle's for equality most african americans face in the past to be considered a american.

Wabbit
Politics and Religion Discussions, don't end up well. Why is that? It is the implication that these topics invariably lead to disagreement and by extension disharmony. EDIT, i LOVE THAT FLAG =P
