Spindrift
To sum it up rather quickly, my webcam does not work with anything. It is on my computer; I know that much because I see it listed in the Device Manager. The problem is that it is not seen as an available source by anything else. Instead, it just shows the big "cancel" symbol over it when I try to load it on the internet with Flash Player. The webcam is built in to the computer, so I don't need to check any connections. The driver is up to date. I believe Adobe Flash Player is up to date. I'm using an ASUS N61J with the default ASUS USB2.0 UVC 2M WebCam. Things I have tried to use it with to test it: Windows Live Messenger, Facebook, TinyChat, ManyCam and Skype. Thanks ahead of time if anybody can help. It automatically switches to a capture of my screen. I cannot even test it. On the Flash settings, everything is NOT set to deny. And for the WLM page, it didn't even load. An error came up. enigma#
Okay two more things 1. Is there a hardware switch for your webcam? A hardware switch would be like Fn + F12 for instance... 2. Are you sure you have the right drivers?? Windows may install generic drivers in place if it doesn't work or detect the webcam correctly... Spindrift
Just check all of my function key combinations and none of them work the camera. As for the driver, I have installed an alternative that someone else have given me.

Spindrift
Okay, I've done that. The only thing now is that the webcam doesn't show up in the Device Manager along with the problem of it not working anywhere.
enigma#
Did you scan for hardware changes? Because Windows won't detect it if it's been uninstall without a restart (or a scan for hardware changes) :X
Spindrift
Did you scan for hardware changes? Because Windows won't detect it if it's been uninstall without a restart (or a scan for hardware changes) :X I'm sorry if I seem like a hassle to you, enigma, but how do I scan for that? I'm sure it's simple and I might find it while I look for it; it's just safe to ask. Also, I have determined that it is not the driver. If it was, it would say it was out of date or something. Now that the driver does not even appear in the list, the webcam does not appear as an option now. It used to appear with the cancel symbol, but now nothing. Cr(+)sshair
Quick question: 32bit or 64? Try Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, Add New Device - it will scan for any hardware connected that isn't fully installed. Also when you see it in Device Panel, see if it's enabled within it. Spindrift
64bit Windows, Crosshair. Attempting your suggestion now. EDIT: Good news, it's back in the Device Manager. Odd news, it's under a different name: Going to test it on some websites right now. EDIT: Tried using the Webcam on WLM. During the video call, it starts off as paused. When I resume it, it shows a gray screen and plays the sound for when you connect a USB device. After that, it pauses itself again. Spindrift
Let me know. And no, you're not a hassle to me I just looked all over the internet for a download link, but each and EVERY page I clicked on had seven or eight download links and none of them were for LifeFrame. If anybody could help me look for a clean download of it, I would appreciate that.
Cr(+)sshair
Okay Spin, right-click the webcam on Device Manager and install drivers (search computer first, the folder where the 64-bit driver you downloaded is) Also, make sure you have the right drivers as there is three different types of N61J's. http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us ^ ASUS -> Notebook -> N61 series -> then select the model.
