enigma#
Its not possible to upgrade notebook graphics cards as they are integrated into the motherboard. Not necessarily, some video cards are seperate attachments. However, they are not standard desktop form factor and can be a pain-in-the-arse to install (and they are manufacturer specific typically speaking) . I found something that might be of interest to you: http://www.pcworld.com/article/148909/upgrading_your_laptops_graphics_card.html http://compreviews.about.com/od/general/a/NotebookUpgrade.htm http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Qosmio-Laptops/Graphic-card-cpu-Upgrade-PLZ-HELP/td-p/165334 You need to check out whether it is integrated or not, that's the most important part. If it is, you're out of luck; if not, you have a chance to do some upgrading. On the other hand, finding an aftermarket laptop graphics card is also pain to look for... -.- Edited February 16, 2011 by enigma#

You're best bet is just buy/build a new computer. This time dont get a laptop though, you shouldnt be gaming on one in the first place <

This time dont get a laptop though, you shouldnt be gaming on one in the first place <3 You don't need to make an assumption. If you read one of the threads noted, several Toshiba models can be upgraded via getting replacement parts from Toshiba. Since you don't know which Toshiba he has, it would be fallacious to assume he can't. That's besides the point, it's up to him to either try upgrading or building himself a machine. I'd suggest the latter as replacing video cards in laptops can be a pain in the arse -.-
Darkwing Duck
I'd suggest the latter as replacing video cards in laptops can be a pain in the arse -.- ^this Also you're right enigma, but one of the reasons I said the aforementioned is because I don't trust any after market graphics card in laptops due to cooling issues. The majority of laptops out there on the market, even ones built for gaming, have severe cooling issues. So yes you are absolutely right it is his choice, and I wasn't trying to impose anything onto him; simply giving my advice from my experience and personal knowledge. Also I dont like toshiba
