Fraps is the best game recorder out there, IMO. You could use Camtasia, which is somewhat similar to both. If you're looking to stream live, use Adobe Media Live Encoder with a desktop recorder, e.g. Camtasia. I would ask BigJ on Steam about the live streaming, he seems to have the hang of things. :D

There is a much easier way to record in-game footage into .avi files in several different formats using a free plugin and the source engine alone.

 

Record a demo as normal:

Then follow these steps, paying particular attention to step 7.

This should work in all source games and allows you to take a demo (.dem) and turn it into a movie (.avi) that you can upload straight to youtube, etc.

He wants to record Minecraft. So .demo's cannot be recorded :)

Honestly the best PROGRAM recorder I have come across would have to be WeGame all ya do is register and It is totally free and lags the minimum of all recorders and has advance settings and features to fit your need. Google it :)
