Disk Check failed? If you are still having this problem I would suggest using your original Windows start up CD and use the system check/repair/whatever its called function. Find the function for chkdsk I believe and run it. I believe this should work on Windows 7, report back results please :)

run an elevated prompt (cmd.exe)

type

sfc /scannow

this will run an integrity scan of your OS files

as well run a disk scan on the HDD itself, you will need to reboot to actually scan it as windows has a file lock on the hard-drive

you can also do this through cmd.exe (make sure it is elevated)

chkdsk C: /x /r

im just getting a 500gb hdd and replaceing it on sunday

I used to make a point of disowning people that do things like that. You have a 95% chance of (worst case) just needing to re-install windows, and not spending 70-120 dollars.
