InstantNoodles
I have to agree with many critics that Duke Nukem isn't good. I mean it doesn't even look that good. Its like any other shooting game out there except it has strip clubs. Also can anyone tell me why the game got delayed since 1998?

Cal45
Gamefly shipped it out yesterday so I should have it tomorrow. I'm trying to not have any expectations.
FDR
Also can anyone tell me why the game got delayed since 1998? From what I heard and read, the game's engine, Vaporware, is complicated and not easy to use.

Cal45
Holy fuck. I played through a little bit last night and this game is absolutely horrendous. I don't know if I can play any more of it. This coming from a guy who will usually finish a game just to finish it. I can't believe they worked for so long on this absolute piece of shit. IMO, this game ruined the epicness for me that was the original Duke Nukem. It's kind of like if you go and watch a movie or play a game that was awesome 10-15 years ago. It will ruin the memory. Wingless
I'm not all the way through the single player yet, but I knew that it could never live up to my lofty expectations. The question was always how short it would fall. I can definitely say that the controls are a little clunky, and the hitbox detection is a little off. Part of the issue with the controls is probably that I bought it for the PS3, and I've always hated its controller. The load times are inexcusably long, and this is even considering the fact that my load times are probably a little better due to the PS3's HDD install practices. They're just freaking awful. Especially since it takes a full load every time you die. Some light platforming was always fun, but there are long, drawn-out sequences of jumping from box to box, or burger bun to burger bun. Moving pipes around to complete a path for steam to come out of is just not fun. Shit like this really kills the pacing. Overall, I wouldn't call it bad, but I will absolutely call it mediocre compared to what it could have been, and I can't shake the feeling that it was rushed. Trust me, I waited 12 years for it to come out, I could have waited 6 more months for them to put some polish on it.

Honestly, I don't think they could've done any better with 6 more months or 6 more years. Any kind of Duke Nukem sequel will never live up to the original. Plain and simple. Any kind of Duke Nukem sequel will never live up to the original. Plain and simple. I knew it was never going to be as good as I wanted it to, but it could have been up there with (dare I say?) the COD series or competitors in terms of polish. If the game feels rushed, it probably was.
Cal45
.. but it could have been up there with (dare I say?) the COD series or competitors in terms of polish.... Really? That is laughable at best. I don't disagree with your statement that the game was rushed because it seems like I was, but even if it wasn't rushed and they had more time to spend on it, it would seem like putting a spit shine on a turd to me.
