r3dm0nd
Hey guys, I'm trying to get into music production and was wondering if anyone here already did that and could suggest me programs or equipment to use. I'd be going for an electronic music style really haven't decided which sub-genre though. Also, I was at a person's house yesterday and they had music playing from their computer but were using a headset at the same time, both streams were separated. Could someone enlighten me how to do this, I think they said something called an audio proxy, but googled it and no avail.

Richie
I use mspaint for all my needs... Oh music! no, idk about music. You could try to get a hold of the guy that did the owl city tracks. He did everything by himself and it sounded good too.
Provin
music production as in like with ur computer like say beats? if you mean like beats i use fruit loops, (the newest version is pretty user friendly) pro tools is also good to have also sound packs for like fruity loops which would be a bunch of sounds that you could use to make the beats. edit: this is my cousins set up FL Studio 10, Pro Tools, M-Audio Axiom 49, MPC 500, Rokit 5′s, microKORG thats some of the other things you could get to add on Edited July 30, 2011 by Provin

Guest Vao
Ableton Live. Don't use anything else, get a midi keyboard and you're sorted.
