holymoly
1. HG servers can have bots - that's fine - but the player count needs to reflect who is actually in the server. Empty HG servers are defaulting to 23/24 capacity and failing to report accurate player counts. 2. IMPORTANT. HG servers restrict the demoman class to melee-only (as in medieval map modes). This problem needs to be fixed immediately.

This problem needs to be fixed immediately. 1. Some servers have the server count changer but some don't. This was done on purpose. It is not a matter of accuracy necessarily. 2. Not sure. If only one person is disagreeing with how the democlass has been set up, it's not much to fix. Perhaps this is more of a personal opinion rather than a problem. Scott
HG servers restrict the demoman class to melee-only (as in medieval map modes). This problem needs to be fixed immediately. theres only one server im sure that restricts anyone to melee... the player count needs to reflect who is actually in the server. yes it is deceiving, but you can always right click the server and click view server info to actually see how many people are playing
Bob the Android Penguin
Last I heard from Dirty, a month or two ago, he was slowly removing the mod with the spoof player counts as the server is registered with the valve demo system thing for tf2. The fake player counts might do more damage than good. For every minute a player is in a server, the server gets points, but if the player leaves within 5-15 minutes (I forget exact number) of joining the server than it loses points. When a player signs on, the server loses 15 points. The server gains a point per minute of players signed onto the server. So, a server who has losts of connects and disconnects before the 15 minute mark cause a poor server rating, but a server that hosts players who stay for longer stretches of time, more regularly, cause a high ranking. Therefore, it harms the servers, because they all ragequit with the fake playercount, causing massive point loss.

Phate
Yeah, this mod does more harm than good. Might be better to just have bots. Precisely why it is being removed. I'm just going to throw this out there. When i have friends and we want to 2v2 or 3v3, or some random shit, we go find a dead server, which helps keep them populated and makes the game fun, but unfortunately, bots fuck with that

Once enough people join all the bots will be gone. They don't affect gameplay (Stupid bots are stupid) in any significant way so I don't see the harm in bots. A server with bots is better than an empty server. At least bots give you something to shoot at while you wait for friends and other people to join. laos
the spoof mod has been removed on several servers and i believe others are getting it removed as well. demomen are NOT forced to melee excluding Degroot Keep (where everyone is except sniper)
